Last Monday, April 27th, a framework collaboration agreement was signed in Concepción, Chile, with the objective of promoting academic and scientific exchange, research, innovation, technology transfer and cultural cooperation between the Universidad del Bío Bío and the Universidad del Caribe (UNICARIBE).

The document was signed by Rector Dr. Benito Umaña Hermosilla and his counterpart from the Universidad del Caribe (UNICARIBE), Dr. Ricardo A. Ramírez-Mendoza, as part of the academic’s visit to our institution.

The agreement is a framework agreement that will allow the development of specific agreements in terms of mobility of students (virtual and physical) as well as professors and researchers, co-develop graduate programs in STEM disciplines – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics – and other areas of common interest. It was also highlighted that there are ample opportunities to advance in continuing education, as well as to strengthen teacher training for virtual teaching and to analyze other alternatives for inter-institutional collaboration including research, innovation and entrepreneurship.

The signing of the agreement was also attended by the Vice Rector for Research and Graduate Studies, Dr. Claudia Muñoz Sanguinetti; the General Director of Institutional Relations, Nelly Gómez Fuentealba; the Director of Innovation, Dr. Mario Núñez Decap; and the Director of Research and Artistic Creation, Dr. Héctor Torres Cuevas.
