Taking advantage of his visit to the Universidad el Caribe (UNICARIBE), former Chilean Senator Kenneth Pugh had the opportunity to present a copy of the book Building Cybersecurity in Chile“, developed by the Future Challenges Commission of the Chilean Senate, which brought together nearly 140 experts from the academic, state, technological and strategic fields, with the aim of analyzing the challenges of cybersecurity in the digital era.

The text addresses issues such as digital governance, specialized talent, interoperability, essential operators, emerging technologies and online disinformation, constituting one of the first national collaborative efforts to build a strategic vision of Chilean cybersecurity.

Many of the ideas developed in this work anticipated debates that later led to the Cybersecurity Framework Law, the creation of the National Cybersecurity Agency (ANCI) and the development of new approaches to sovereignty and digital power in Latin America.

The delivery of this book to UNICARIBE’s Center for Citizen Cybersecurity seeks to strengthen Ibero-American academic cooperation and contribute to the regional exchange of experiences on digital resilience, capacity building and technological governance.
