The Universidad del Caribe consolidates its position as the academic venue for the World Law Congress 2025.
On May 4, 5 and 6, the world’s largest jurist event was held, bringing together more than 1,200 participants to commemorate the strengthening of laws, the rule of law and democracy.
The Dominican Republic was the host country of the World Law Congress, an event of global importance that turned Santo Domingo into the epicenter of international dialogue. The opening and closing ceremonies took place at the emblematic Aula Magna of the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), while the round tables and specialized panels were held at the Universidad del Caribe.
For three days, the Universidad del Caribe hosted the World Law Congress, which brought together nearly 5,000 people, many of them from 70 countries, including jurists, academics, social leaders and representatives of multilateral organizations and international law.
The congress program included more than 50 thematic sessions with the participation of around 300 high-profile speakers, who addressed relevant topics of current world legal affairs, the rule of law, human rights, artificial intelligence as a tool for legal work, sustainability and global justice.
This meeting reaffirmed the commitment of the legal community to the promotion of peace, democracy and the strengthening of academic institutions, from which law, law and justice are born for all humanity.
The Universidad del Caribe begins a new stage with the inauguration of the main building of our university, a building developed, built and designed under the vision of the Chancellor, Dr. José A. Aybar. This space has been conceived as an innovative structure, with the highest technological and avant-garde standards, in accordance with the new times and at the height of world-class university institutions.
From there, all the panels and interventions of the most prestigious legal professionals, members of the World Jurist Association, as well as personalities of great regional relevance, took place.
We also counted with the assistance of the Dominican socio-political leadership, who supported with their presence and collaboration the realization of this great event.
The impeccable organization of the World Law Congress at the Universidad del Caribe was in charge of Cristal Aybar, marking the continuity and adherence to the ethical and professional convictions of the founders of the university, as a symbol of the Aybar family’s commitment to the professional development of Dominican society.
An event that will undoubtedly become part of the institutional history of our university; but, above all, an event that served as an official celebration of the beginning of a new era of achievements for the institution, with the inauguration of its new facilities.
It is only fair to highlight the hard work of each and every one of the members of the university, who worked tirelessly to make this challenge a reality.
For the closing ceremony, His Majesty the King of Spain, Felipe VI, was present at the Universidad del Caribe, who, together with Foreign Minister Dr. José Alejandro Aybar; the main representatives of the World Jurist Association; Dr. Sonia Sotomayor, Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States; the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader; and the Mayor of the National District, Carolina Mejía, unveiled the monument The Flame, located in front of the Caribbean Sea, on the main facade of the university. This commemorative work, a symbol of inspiration for new generations, will remain as a memorable landmark of such a prestigious event in the Dominican Republic.
Congratulations to the entire institutional community of UNICARIBE for this new link in the chain of achievements that strengthen the prestige and growth of our university!
