On May 19, representatives from the University of the Caribbean (UNICARIBE) paid a special visit to the Colombian Embassy in the Dominican Republic with the aim of further strengthening the ties of cooperation between the two institutions.
The commission was composed of Luis Simó, Director of the Tourism Municipality, and the Director of the Environmental Management and Renewable Energy program, who also heads the CAYEI Research Center. Both were received by Colombian Ambassador Darío Villamizar and First Secretary José David Moreno in a cordial atmosphere filled with interest in working together.
During the meeting, key issues such as academic cooperation, scientific diplomacy, and the development of joint cultural activities were discussed. Representatives from both sides expressed their willingness to initiate projects that benefit the academic community and strengthen ties between Colombia and the Dominican Republic.
As part of this rapprochement, First Secretary José David Moreno also visited UNICARIBE’s headquarters during the CIBITEC 2025 Congress, where he met with university authorities and learned firsthand about the initiatives promoted by the institution.
Through these types of exchanges, UNICARIBE reaffirms its commitment to international outreach and the creation of alliances that open new opportunities for its educational community.
