UNICARIBE, the Caribbean Sustainability Research Group (GISCARIBE) and the Center for Analysis and International Studies of the Caribbean University – CAYEI, present their food bank project at the International Course on the Principles of Responsible Investment in Agriculture (IRA) taught by the Polytechnic University of Madrid in its project with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The FAO-UPM Project was initiated in 2016 to integrate the IRA Principles to a Network of more than 40 universities and 39 companies from 12 countries in Latin America, Caribbean and Spain, they intend to contribute to food security, nutrition and improving sustainable livelihoods for small producers, with a comprehensive, responsible and environmentally friendly vision and supporting the right to adequate food in the context of national food security. The Principles for Responsible Investment in Agriculture and Food Systems (CSA-IRA) are a framework for designing and implementing agricultural investments responsibly. The CSA-IRAs also respect human rights and are environmentally friendly.

CAYEI in conjunction with GISCARIBE participated in this course of international relevance achieving the certification of Deans, Directors, Coordinators and Professors of UNICARIBE as Assistant Professors in the FAO-UPM Project program, the members of this project are:

  • Chef Wandy Robles, Dean of the Faculty of Hospitality, Tourism and Gastronomy.
  • Cesar Robles, Coordinator of the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Gastronomy.
  • Julián Peña, Director of CAYEI and the Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management and Renewable Energies.
  • Rober Florentino, Professor of Environmental Management and Renewable Energies.
