Santo Domingo.—Six officials and academics from the University of the Caribbean (UNICARIBE) were appointed as judges for the QS Reimagine Education Awards, a competition through which the British firm Quacquarelli Symonds recognizes educational innovation projects on a global scale.

The panel of judges consists of the chancellor, Dr. José Alejandro Aybar Martín; the university president, Ricardo Ramírez; the vice president for academic affairs, Elisa González; the vice president for research, Julián Peña; the director of the Bachelor’s Program in Port Administration, Anny Rodríguez; and Víctor Haché, a professor at the Business School.

The competition is part of the Reimagine Education Awards & Conference, a forum that QS describes as a meeting place for innovators in higher education and the EdTech sector. The awards recognize initiatives in areas such as the future of learning, the transformation of universities, the development of workplace skills, and education for sustainability. More than 1,650 proposals were received for the 2025 edition; this year’s total is expected to exceed that number.

The jury’s task is to evaluate projects submitted by universities, educational organizations, and innovators from various countries. QS assembles the panels based on each evaluator’s expertise in the relevant field, and the proposals go through several stages before the winning projects are selected.

For UNICARIBE, this designation represents a contribution by its governing and academic bodies to the recognition of projects that are currently shaping trends in higher education worldwide. The University thus contributes, with expert insight, to a global evaluation process. Furthermore, this participation strengthens institutional efforts toward SDG 4—Quality Education—and the internationalization strategy, which aims to strengthen the University’s presence in global forums where the quality and future of higher education are discussed.

The winners will be announced during the conference, which will take place December 6–8 at the InterContinental London – The O2 in London, United Kingdom.
