The Universidad del Caribe (UNICARIBE) stood out at the 9th Student Congress on Scientific and Technological Research (CEICyT 2024), receiving five awards: three for research projects and two in the poster competition. This event, organized by the MESCyT, is one of the most prestigious scientific gatherings in the Dominican Republic.
Students from the Bachelor’s programs in Environmental Management and Renewable Energy, the School of Engineering and Technology, and the Bachelor’s program in Hospitality and Tourism at UNICARIBE excelled in the Engineering and Technology category, earning third place and two honorable mentions. Additionally, in the poster competition, they secured first and third places, further solidifying the institution’s reputation.

Third place in Engineering and Technology was awarded to José Luis Rosario, Nirson Espaillat, and Elinson Rubio for their research titled “Analysis of the Scrubber Process in the Hydrated Lime Plant of a Mining Process in Sánchez Ramírez Province, Dominican Republic.”
Honorable mentions were granted to the research projects: “Impact of Digital Transformation on the Development of Employee Activities at Hotel Royalton, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic,” conducted by Rosa Paniagua, and “Use of SAGAGIS Software to Develop a Results Map of the 2024 Presidential Elections in the Dominican Republic,” carried out by Criz Mervin under the guidance of their professor Julián Peña and school director Ramón Vicente.
In the poster competition, Anabelys Estévez and Ángel Camargo, students of Advertising and Digital Communication, secured first and third places for their innovative and creative proposals.
During the award ceremony, held on November 20, 2024, at the Monseñor Agripino Núñez Collado Building of PUCMM, the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Dr. Franklin García Fermín, highlighted the quality of the presented projects.
CEICyT 2024, held on September 26 and 27 at UASD Baní and organized by MESCyT, brought together 416 research projects from 23 national universities, fostering science, technology, and innovation among Dominican students.
With these achievements, UNICARIBE reaffirms its leadership in academic excellence and its commitment to the country’s scientific development, strengthening the impact of its students in the academic and professional fields.
