With the aim of fostering a culture of financial responsibility among students, the University’s Student Welfare Office held an enriching Financial Education Week. This initiative, supported by the Academic Vice Rector’s Office, offered a series of talks and activities aimed at strengthening the knowledge and proper management of personal finances in the student community.

During the week, Mr. Jorge Besosa, Executive Director of the Fundación de Crédito Educativo (FUCECA), presented the financing options available to students. In his speech, he emphasized that FUCECA is the only entity in the country that offers the lowest interest rate in the market for educational loans, which represents a valuable opportunity for those students who wish to continue their studies without the economic aspect being an obstacle.

Likewise, Ms. Marllin Villegas, Director of Student Welfare, emphasized the importance of students being aware of the established dates for enrollment and academic withdrawals, in order to avoid additional charges and financial complications that may affect them.

The Financial Education Week also included a talk entitled “How to manage your finances and prepare yourself economically on a daily basis”, given by representatives of the Asociación Popular de Ahorros y Préstamos (APAP): Business Executive Nilca Ramírez and the Bank’s Assistant Manager and graduate of this university, Hamlet Calderón. Both shared practical tools and useful financial tips for the students’ day-to-day life.

Banco Popular had an active participation promoting its digital platform Gnial, an application designed to empower young people in the management of their personal finances. Through educational demonstrations at its stand, students were able to learn about and download the application, exploring functionalities such as the opening of savings accounts, card management and personalized savings tools.

These activities had the support and participation of various institutional authorities, including the Student Welfare team; Ms. Waldina Vásquez, Director of Accounts Receivable; Mr. Jordi Besosa, Administrative Vice President; and again Mr. Jorge Besosa, Executive Director of FUCECA, who stressed the importance of continuing to promote such initiatives to strengthen financial education within the university community.
