The Universidad del Caribe (UNICARIBE) and the Camilo José Cela University (UCJC), of Spain, signed a Framework Agreement for Academic Collaboration with the purpose of strengthening a strategic alliance aimed at innovation, social entrepreneurship, international cooperation and knowledge transfer.

The agreement was headed by the rector of UNICARIBE, Dr. Ricardo A. Ramírez Mendoza, and Ignacio Sell Trujillo, Director of Academic Promotion and Business Development with Latin America at UCJC and director of the international Sfera Experience program.

During the signing ceremony, Rector Ricardo A. Ramírez Mendoza stated that this collaboration consolidates the relationship initiated between the two institutions through the Erasmus+ EmpSocial project and the Sfera Experience program. He also emphasized that the agreement will allow the promotion of future joint projects in academic mobility, educational innovation, knowledge transfer and the development of collaborative academic programs.

For his part, Ignacio Sell Trujillo emphasized that this framework agreement represents the first agreement that he has promoted since his recent position at UCJC. He also pointed out that the signing seeks to create a professional and active relationship between the different departments of both universities, promoting the exchange of knowledge, the identification of common interests and the development of shared academic initiatives.

The agreement establishes a general framework of collaboration between both institutions to develop joint activities in areas such as teaching, research, university extension, technological innovation and linkage with the environment. Among its lines of action are the exchange of students, teachers and researchers; the development of joint academic programs and double degrees; the development of collaborative research projects; the organization of academic events, seminars and conferences; the exchange of information, publications and academic materials; as well as training and professional updating programs.

With this partnership, UNICARIBE and UCJC reaffirm their commitment to quality, relevant and internationalized higher education, aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4, Quality Education, and Sustainable Development Goal 17, Partnerships to Achieve the Goals, by promoting academic cooperation, mobility, educational innovation and the development of joint projects with social impact.
