SANTO DOMINGO. – The Universidad del Caribe (UNICARIBE) signed this Thursday, May 22, 2026, through a virtual ceremony, an institutional cooperation agreement with the Universidad Madero (UMAD) of Mexico, with the purpose of establishing an exchange program for students, teachers and researchers, as well as to establish the guidelines and mechanisms of cooperation for the development of academic, scientific and research activities for the mutual benefit of both institutions.

The protocol ceremony, held at 1:00 p.m. (Dominican time) through a virtual platform, brought together the highest authorities of both universities, who agreed on the strategic relevance of this agreement for the training of professionals with a global vision and international vocation.


Representing UNICARIBE, the ceremony was presided over by Dr. Ricardo Ramirez, Rector of the Universidad del Caribe, accompanied by Ms. Bethy Diaz, Vice Rector of Extension, Continuing Education and Internationalization; Mr. Julian Peña, Vice Rector of Research; Ms. Arianna Frencia, Director of Internationalization; and Ms. Maria Jose Brito, in charge of University Mobility. Job César Romero Reyes, Rector of the Madero Educational System, and Ms. Eva Rebeca Naveda Alonso, Coordinator of the Center for Internationalization and Professional Internships.
During the ceremony, the Rector of the Madero Educational System, Mr. Job César Romero Reyes, expressed his institution’s commitment to educational internationalization, highlighting that this type of alliances are a fundamental pillar to ensure that students have access to educational experiences beyond national borders.

Dr. Ricardo Ramirez, Rector of UNICARIBE, emphasized that this agreement represents a concrete step in the institutional strengthening and educational excellence that distinguishes the university, expressing that international cooperation is an essential way for Dominican students to broaden their academic and professional horizons with a truly global perspective.

The agreement establishes the basis for the joint development of student and faculty mobility programs, as well as for collaboration in scientific research projects, within the framework of institutional strengthening, quality and educational excellence that both universities share as fundamental values.
With this agreement, UNICARIBE reaffirms its vocation for academic excellence and internationalization, ratifying its position as a reference institution in the Dominican Republic in the construction of strategic alliances with universities in Latin America and the world.

The event was attended by academic and administrative representatives from both universities, who witnessed the moment in which both institutions sealed this new chapter in the educational cooperation between the Dominican Republic and Mexico.
