La Universidad del Caribe (UNICARIBE), within the framework of the project developed with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), entitled “Promoting Efficient and Resilient Agrifood Systems in the Dominican Republic”, continues to promote awareness and training actions to reduce food losses and waste in the country.
As part of this initiative, UNICARIBE, together with the Network of Awareness and Sensitization for the Reduction of Food Losses and Waste (REPDA), held a training session at the Academia Militar del Caribe (AMC), aimed at promoting good practices for the prevention of food losses and waste, as well as knowledge about measurement and monitoring tools such as FAO OptiWaste.

During this activity, more than 50 people, including students and teachers, were made aware of the importance of reducing food losses and waste, its impact on sustainability and the need to strengthen a culture of responsible consumption in educational and institutional environments.

This event reaffirms UNICARIBE’s commitment to education, sustainable development and the articulation with partner institutions to promote more efficient, resilient and responsible agri-food systems in the Dominican Republic, in line with SDG 2: Zero Hunger and SDG 12: Responsible production and consumption.
