Santo Domingo. The University of the Caribbean (UNICARIBE) participated prominently in the IX Entrepreneurship Fair of the Dominican Republic, held on Tuesday, November 11, where more than 1,000 people gathered to learn about the experiences and lessons learned from important figures of the national entrepreneurial ecosystem.

More than 200 students, accompanied by 10 professors and directors, made up the institutional delegation headed by the Rector, Dr. Ricardo A. Ramírez Mendoza, who highlighted the educational value of the event for the young people of UNICARIBE.

During the main event, a discussion was held with three leading Dominican entrepreneurs: Ligia Bonetti, José Luis “Pepín” Corripio and Frank Elías Rainieri, who were recognized for their outstanding careers and their contributions to the economic and social development of the country.

Main lessons learned.

José Luis “Pepín” Corripio:
Corripio stressed that success is built on hard work, discipline and education based on reality. He reminded that what many call “luck” is, in truth, the result of constant effort and sacrifice. He also reiterated that “opportunities happen early”, so he recommended to always stay alert and prepared.

Ligia Bonetti:
Bonetti emphasized the importance of changing mentality, leaving behind excuses and assuming personal responsibility. She pointed out that discipline, perseverance and humility are essential to lead, as well as the ability to listen and surround oneself with people who add value.

Frank Elías Rainieri:
Rainieri expressed that the entrepreneur must maintain an active vision 24/7, as opportunities have no timetable. He shared that Grupo Puntacana started “small” to understand the market before growing, and explained that his project required significant sacrifices, including 22 years without receiving dividends and seven without a salary. He also emphasized the fundamental role of family support.

Featured organizations.

The fair was attended by key institutions for the economic development of the nation. The Ministry of Tourism, headed by Minister David Collado, led the organization of the event, reaffirming its commitment to promoting entrepreneurship. Three of the country’s most influential business groups also participated: Grupo Puntacana, a benchmark in sustainable tourism; Grupo SID, a leader in the food and manufacturing industry; and Grupo Corripio, an important conglomerate in commerce and the media.

The University of the Caribbean (UNICARIBE) had a special presence with its faculty and students, strengthening its commitment to the integral formation of entrepreneurs and leaders.

UNICARIBE congratulates the Ministry of Tourism for organizing this important activity and celebrates the opportunity for its students to connect with real experiences of leadership, resilience and innovation.
