The Universidad del Caribe (UNICARIBE) and the Fundación Mujeres Dominicanas en la Aviación (FUMDOAV) met on May 14 to discuss opportunities for collaboration to promote gender equity and inclusion in the aviation and aerospace industry, particularly for young and female professionals in a market with high labor demand.

It was agreed to work on a framework agreement between the two institutions to work on five immediate lines of action, namely:

Academic offer: Promotion of the Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Management.

Innovation: Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) projects.

Internships: Linking active students with the aerospace industry.

Mentoring: Support networks and contact with graduate professionals.

Training: New training and employment opportunities for women.

The official meeting was attended by the president of FUMDOAV, Nathali Herasme Méndez, and UNICARIBE was represented by the academic vice rector, Ms. Elisa Elena González; the dean, Dr. Edith Moya; the director of Internationalization, Arianna Frencia; and the coordinator of the Aeronautical Management career, Ariel Artiles.

This initiative reaffirms the commitment of both entities to the UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 5) to promote diversity and inclusion.
