UNICARIBE’s Port Administration program continues to develop initiatives aimed at strengthening academic quality and links with key players in the port sector. Anny María Rodríguez Estévez, made an institutional visit to the Specialized Port Security Corps (CESEP), a fundamental entity in the supervision and safeguarding of security in the country’s ports.
During the visit, he held a productive meeting with the Director of CESEP, Rear Admiral Segundo Ventura García, where strategic issues were discussed aimed at establishing inter-institutional collaboration agreements. Among the main points discussed were the development of internship programs, technical training, specialized lectures, as well as the execution of joint projects that allow students to acquire a more comprehensive training aligned with the real needs of the sector.
This approach represents a significant step in the consolidation of higher education that is more connected to the professional environment, especially in critical areas such as port security, where technical preparation, regulatory compliance and risk management are essential. The articulation between academia and institutions such as CESEP strengthens the training of professionals capable of facing the current challenges of maritime trade and international logistics.
Within the framework of this visit, a valuable academic exchange also took place with the renowned author and Port Logistics Specialist, Luis F. Musolino, who has made important contributions on international trade, maritime transport and logistics operations. As a token of his commitment to academic training, he donated a copy of his most recent work, “Dangerous Goods in Ports,” to the UNICARIBE library.
This grant is a valuable resource for students and teachers, as it addresses a key issue in modern port management. Proper handling of dangerous goods not only ensures the safety of operations, but also contributes to compliance with international standards and the sustainability of the logistics system.
With this type of initiative, UNICARIBE reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence, the continuous updating of its programs and the generation of strategic alliances that have a positive impact on the training of highly qualified professionals. The integration between theoretical knowledge, professional practice and institutional cooperation is thus consolidated as a fundamental pillar for the development of the port sector in the Dominican Republic.
