UNICARIBE conducted a training session at the company Colchonería y Mueblería La Nacional in Santo Domingo Este, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote sustainability and reduce food loss and waste in the Dominican Republic. During the activity, 14 employees of the company were made aware of the importance of preventing food loss and waste (FLW) and received an introduction to the FAO OptiWaste digital tool, designed to support measurement, monitoring, and decision-making in this area.
This initiative is carried out במסגרת the TCP/DOM/4001 project, “Promoting efficient and resilient food systems in the Dominican Republic,” led by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) between 2024 and 2026. Likewise, the training session is aligned with the Awareness and Sensitization Network for the Reduction of Food Loss and Waste (REPDA), a platform aimed at strengthening education, awareness, and best practices around more responsible food systems.
Through actions like these, UNICARIBE reaffirms its commitment to education, engagement with the productive sector, and the promotion of initiatives that contribute to more efficient resource use, sustainability, and the country’s food security.
